Simon Cooper
Qualifying as a pharmacist in 1989 Simon worked initially in community pharmacy until being approached by several GP practices to provide prescribing support. Joining the NHS full time in 2001, he progressed taking on Head of Prescribing Support for Portsmouth CCG in 2014 and later becoming Director of Medicines Optimisation.
During this time Portsmouth CCG were the first CCG to become fully EPS enabled by being the national pilot for phase 4 EPS.
Simon has always been involved with medicines data being part of the HSJ award winning team that developed the ePACT2 Polypharmacy Dashboard and later Opiods dashboard.
After this Simon was seconded to the NHSBSA for a year to provide insight into how the then PCTs used the medicines data.
Later taking on Director of Primary Care in addition to the Medicines Optimisation role Simon was seconded to the Medicines Policy Unit as National Advisor Medicines Data Strategy.
More recently Simon has lead Pharmacy, Optometry and Dentistry for Hampshire and Isle of Wight ICB before joining RxInfo.
